Pell Grant Estimate
The Pell Grant is available to low-income students that are in financial need to pay for their higher education. The Pell Grant award amount is based on your income, total assets, cost of attendance, and student status that is calculated based on the information that is given in the FAFSA. Once you’ve completed and submitted the FAFSA, you will be provided with an EFC score to determine your Pell Grant award amount.
To determine your Pell Grant estimate, we’re provided you with a Pell Grant calculator that can be used to determine your award amount. The maximum award amount for the upcoming school year is $5,635, which is available for students with an EFC score of 0.
The Pell Grant calculation is based on your EFC score and CoA (Cost of Attendance). The EFC score is calculated based on the information you provided within the FAFSA application, which includes the following:
Total Income/Income: The higher your income and asset amount you provide within the FAFSA, the lower the chances are that you will be eligible to receive a Pell Grant. The Pell Grant is available for low-income students that are in need of financial aid to pay for their education.
CoA (Cost of Attendance): The more your college costs, the greater the chances are you will be eligible to receive a Pell Grant. It is common for higher income students that attend a high cost of attendance school to receive a higher Pell Grant award amount then a student that has lower income and attends a school that has a lower cost of attendance.
Military Pell Grant Estimate: If your parent or guardian died as a result of military service in Iraq or Afghanistan after the events of 9/11, you may be eligible for a Pell Grant.
To be eligible, at the time of your parent’s or guardian’s death, you must have been less than 24 years old or enrolled at least part-time at a college or career school. Payments will be adjusted if you are enrolled less than full-time. Applicants will have their EFC score adjusted to zero, so they will receive the full Pell Grant award amount.
